July 5, Day 75 – We’re really in Northern California now

We started our day with Legend’s pancake breakfast. The same Legend that was at the Mexican border when I started. We didn’t start hiking until 7:15 because of this but it was a nice way to start the day. We hiked 4 miles to get to highway 80 and the rest stop and we took our first break. We waited with Zipper for a bit while she waited on her ride home but had to get going after a short break since we planned to do 30 miles today. The hiking was easy and beautiful again today. We would walk ridge lines then dip down to get to a stream for water. The trail wasn’t very busy once we got more than 10 miles from the road. Our pace was pretty quick which allowed us several breaks. Hot Pink, Rambo, Sure Foot and I rolled into camp around 8:30 and found a spot in the trees next to a campground. I noticed some people sitting outside their RV in the campground and was able to get 4 sodas from them. It was a nice way to end the day after 30 miles. We have a mostly downhill 11 miles into Sierra City tomorrow. We hope to make it for breakfast.

Miles: 30.5 Total Miles: 1183.9

Surefoot headed north near mile 1175
